HiFes

HiFest had quickly came along and I was able to put my work up for sale at the festival and to find potential contacts.

HiFest was an amazing experience, I was able to learn so much about the illustration world. It was nice seeing all these other artists selling their work and finding out their background. I noticed the more popular stands were the ones with fan art like 'Soundimals' who created a Pokemon poster and Sean TW Cartoons who drew famous movie characters like John Travolta and Jim Carry.

Our stand was set at the edge of the room next to the amazing Quentin Blake!!!! Being next to such an amazing artist was inspirational! it also helped with our stand as it gave us a lot more foot traffic.

All in all it was an experience I will not forget and it as and will further help me in my mission to become a freelance illustrator.

HIFEST

I am doing a live brief with a festival called 'HIFEST' 

"On Saturday 6th December 2014 HiFest (Hastings Illustration Festival) will showcase amazing, illustrative talents both locally and nationally, through stalls, special guests, talks, workshops, signings and exhibitions."

We have been asked to design a leaflet to hand out involving the word 'HI'

Exhibition Time

Foxes and rabbits

For today's lesion I done some mono printing. It had been well over two years since exploring mono printing and I have realised I am not as good as I used to be.

To do monoprinting I rolled oli paint onto some wood to make an even thin layer of paint. I then used some really nice Chinese paper which has a lovely soft texture and has very light feel to it. I placed it ontop of the ink lightly and tried not to put any pressure on the paper other wise it will leave a mark. I then drew out my designs which printed onto the other side.

I liked my outcome but tend to use a rubber a lot which is my flaws in these kind of prints.
